A mecca for golf enthusiasts, Ayrshire and the Isle of Arran off the coast have beautiful countryside and coastline to please the eye of the most discerning of visitors. There are plenty of other attractions too. Visit the castle at Culzean for example, or explore the many landmarks associated with Robert Burns, starting with his birthplace at Alloway. The Isle of Arran is Scotland in miniature, with lochs, ruined castles, mysterious Neolithic monuments and the obligatory distillery. On the Isle of Cumbrae you will find The Cathedral of the Isles; the smallest cathedral in Britain.
