Cambridgeshire

No visit to this county would be complete without spending time in Cambridge itself. Explore the peaceful quadrangles of its ancient colleges, visit the prestigious Fitzwilliam Museum, with its impressive collection of paintings, or spend time in the market. Alternatively if you come in the summer, take a picnic and punt leisurely down The Cam to Grantchester. Cambridge also has a number of excellent pubs and restaurants. Apart from Cambridge itself, the stark landscape of the fens, with its varied birds and other wildlife, is worth seeing, as is the beautiful Norman cathedral of Ely.
