Dorset
Dorset is one of England’s most rural counties. It also has the highest concentration of thatched houses and cottages in the country. There are many varied attractions in the county. As well as the varied countryside and plethora of small attractive towns and villages, there is the spectacular coastline. On the coast there are the popular resorts of Weymouth and Bournemouth. Prince Charles’s village of Poundbury is also worth visiting. The chalk giant of Cerne Abbas is still spectacular after two millennia, and be sure to spend time in the county town of Dorchester, Thomas Hardy’s Casterbridge.
