South-West EireSouth West Ireland consists of the counties of Cork, Kerry and Limerick. It is one of the most popular and scenic areas of the country and for many people is what comes to mind when they think of Ireland. The region contains some beautiful and spectacular countryside and landscapes, both inland and coastal as well as Ireland's highest mountain, Carrauntoohil. Cork is a vibrant city of arts and nightlife and was Europe's city of culture in 2005. Outside the city you must visit Blarney Castle and kiss the Blarney Stone. The "Ring of Kerry" is an excellent touring area around the Dingle Peninsula incorporating coastline, mountains and lakes. |
