East Yorkshire

A distinct district with its own character there are places of interest here from all periods of English history. Visit Stamford Bridge, site of the battle that saw the effective end of the Viking Era. See Beverley, a lovely town with an impressive Minster church. There is the spectacular bridge over the Humber at Hull, and then the popular seaside resort of Bridlington. For those interested in countryside there are the Yorkshire Wolds with excellent views, and then Flamborough Head, an important bird and wildlife sanctuary. Burton Agnes Hall is a superb example of Elizabethan country house architecture.
