Apart from its spectacular countryside and coastline the area has a number of interesting attractions. The city of Aberdeen is one of the highlights, with its excellent blend of old and new; from the granite splendour of the Old Town, to the vibrant nightlife and shopping elsewhere. As a contrast there is the Cairngorms National Park, with some of the most beautiful scenery in Britain. Why not visit Balmoral the Scottish home of the Royal Family since the time of Victoria? There are numerous castles and other historical artefacts in the area, including Craigievar castle, one of the best examples of Scottish Baronial architecture.
