GuernseyOne of The Channel Islands and closer to France geographically, but with a long British tradition and its own identity. There are plenty of things to see and do. Apart from the attractive landscape and coastal views there is the beautiful town of St. Peter Port, which has a full range of shops and eating places. In St. Peter Port is home to the ancient Castle Cornet with its three museums. The island is also a treasure trove of military history. It was occupied during the Second World War, and a number of the fortifications, which made the Channel Islands as a whole the most fortified area of Occupied Europe, still remain. |
