Herefordshire
The city of Hereford with its noble cathedral is the centre of the county, but this is essentially a rural, agricultural area, full of small towns and villages set amongst a patchwork of fields, and hedgerows. Herefordshire is famous for its produce, such as hops and apples. Spend time walking some of the ancient trails that run through the county, like Offa’s Dyke, or visit some of the historic buildings, such as Goodrich Castle or Abbey Dore. Make sure not to miss a visit to Hay-On-Wye, the second-hand books capital of the country and scene of a major annual literary festival.
