The Highlands
When one thinks of Scotland, one of the first images that comes to mind is that of the Highlands; spectacular empty country filled with mountains and lochs. There is excellent scenery and great views in The Highlands. You can visit the eerie shores of Loch Ness and hope to catch a glimpse of the monster, or try to climb Ben Nevis; the highest peak in Britain. Inverness is the only city in this generally low population area. Travel up to John O'Groats,by popular myth the northernmost part of the mainland, and see exhausted walkers completing their journey from Lands End.
