NorthamptonshireOne of England's most traditional counties; rural countryside dotted with small towns and picturesque villages. Northamptonshire is also home to a number of stately homes such as Althorp, now of course the resting place of Princess Diana. For more modern tastes there is the well-known racetrack at Silverstone. Northampton itself is a thriving town, for centuries associated with the shoemaking trade. These days as well as that trade it boasts a full range of shops and decent night life. If you are interested in historic battlefields visit Naseby, site of probably the most decisive battle of the Civil War. |
