The Shetland IslesThe northernmost part of Britain Shetland is an archipelago of over one hundred islands, many uninhabited. It is a place rich in wildlife with a variety of marine life and birds. Its geographical position gives it an almost Scandinavian climate profile with potentially up to nineteen hours of daylight around midsummer. It is a place of spectacular and varied country, a wealth of Neolithic remains, and other important landmarks. The huge refinery at Sullum Voe helped greatly to enhance the economy and much of the wealth has been ploughed back into a variety of festivals and local attractions. |
