South Wales

The area still has plenty of beautiful country, such as the Gower Peninsular and the Vale of Glamorgan, but it is also heavily industrialised. Much of the area's wealth was built on coal mining although little of that activity remains. South Wales contains Cardiff, the capital, with a wealth of things to do. You can eat or drink or sightsee at Cardiff Bay, or visit the castle, a glittering Victorian construction built on the proceeds of coal. Visit the St. Fagan's National History Museum, with over 30 reconstructed Welsh buildings, giving a real flavour of life throughout the Principality down the ages.
