The Western Isles

The Western Isles, or possibly more accurately The Hebrides are easily accessible from the mainland, albeit in some interesting ways; for example to reach Barra you could fly and land on the beach! Harris, Lewis, Barra itself and Uist, all have their own character, but share the virtues of peace and tranquillity; abundant wildlife and a variety of spectacular scenery. Alternatively, if you are feeling adventurous you can visit the Island of St. Kilda; surely the remotest part of the British Isles and home to Europe's most important seabird colony. The whole Island is a designated World Heritage Site.
